who attended the Universities Network
Meeting |
The annual AfriComNet universities’ network
meeting brings together members of the network
to share their various experiences in the development
and implementation of training courses and decide
on upcoming courses to be developed.
24 participants from the University of Namibia,
University of Nairobi –Kenya, University
of Stellenbosch – South Africa, University
of Jimma – Ethiopia, Muhimbili University
– Tanzania, University of Zambia, National
University of Rwanda, and the Uganda Consortium,
comprised of the Mildmay center - Uganda, Makerere
University Department of Mass Communication
and the School of Public Health attended the
Mombasa meeting.
The objectives of
the meeting were:
1. To share new course materials among the
university partners
2. To plan for short courses to be offered over
the next year
3. To review plans for institutionalizing and
integrating the courses into the university
curricula
4. To allocate new course development among
partners
5. To plan the way forward
The next steps
1. AfriComNet to send a press release on the
meeting to all participants
2. Write meeting report and disseminate to all
participants
3. Revise old Memorandums of Understanding and
develop new ones for the new university partners
4. AfriComNet should budget for Technical Assistance
according to plans presented by country groups
5. University partners should share the AfriComNet
Initiative upon return to their respective universities.
AfriComNet to prepare a one-page description
of the Universities network program and include
all the names/logos, of the participating universities
