Course Title: HIV and AIDS and Strategic Communication
This course entails an introduction to and basics about HIV, Theories and models of Behavior Change Communication, Strategic design, Materials development and testing and Monitoring and Evaluation of communication interventions.

Duration: 10 days

Module 1: Introduction to HIV and AIDS
Module 2: Overview of Strategic HIV and AIDS Communication
Module 3: Analysis for Strategic Communication
Module 4: Strategic Design and Communication Approach
Module 5: Materials Development and Testing
Module 6: Management, Implementation and Monitoring
Module 7: Evaluation and Re-planning

This course is presented by three institutions; Makerere University Department of Mass Communication, School of Public Health and Mildmay Uganda (referred to as The Uganda Consortium)

About the Uganda Consortium;
Makerere University Department of Mass Communication
The Department of Mass Communication is arguably Uganda’s largest, oldest and most influential journalism trainer. Started in 1988 under the Department of Literature, the Department became a full-fledged department under the Faculty of Arts in 1998. Currently, the Department offers Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication, and administers a number of post graduate diplomas in various specialized areas.

School of Public Health
Makerere University School of Public Health (MUSPH) is one of the four schools under the College of Health Sciences (MUCHS) working to excel in public health training, research and community service. The school has undergraduate and post-graduate courses, short skills-based courses, Research projects and Community service projects.

Mildmay Uganda
Mildmay Uganda is a nongovernmental organization dedicated to prevention and mitigation for HIV/AIDS. Mildmay Uganda offers trainings for health providers throughout Africa in Treatment, Care and Support of people living with HIV/AIDS.
