CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE (CoE)
To promote effective strategic communication practices and build sustainable communication capacity, AfriComNet has embarked on an exciting and innovative partnership with eight African Universities and one Training Institution, referred to as Centers of Excellence in 8 countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Zambia, Tanzania and Rwanda to develop and institutionalize training in Strategic Communication for Health and Development with a focus on HIV and AIDS.
As of September 2009, AfriComNet with the Centers of Excellence had developed and offered six courses namely:
Basics of HIV and AIDS Strategic Communication;
HIV and AIDS Stigma and Discrimination
Research, Monitoring and Evaluation for HIV/AIDS Communication Programs
Understanding and using the Demographic and Health Survey’s (DHS)
Applied Skills in HIV Communication and Counseling
Community Mobilization for Health and Development
These courses can also be tailor-made to cater for specific needs of different institutions, organizations and groups of individuals.
