According to statistics from the ministry of Health, 17 per cent of all deaths of Tanzanian women aged between 15 and 49, occur during pregnancy, childbirth, or within two months after the birth of a child or termination of a pregnancy. The same data reveals that one out of every 20 Tanzanian children dies before their first birthday. One of the best ways to prevent these maternal and infant deaths is to prevent unplanned pregnancy through the use of modern methods of family planning.
