AfriComNet at ICASA Media briefing

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (December 3, 2011) — AfriComNet Board Chairman, Mr. Peter Mwarogo this afternoon joined the Director of the UNAIDS Regional Support Team for West and Central Africa, and the PEPFAR  Ethiopia Country representative at a media workshop organized by the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) under the them Setting the AIDS agenda.
 
Addressing a group of over 50 journalists and communications officers from various organizations on the Role on Behavior Change communication (BCC) in HIV Prevention, Mr.Mwarogo stressed that all HIV prevention, care and support efforts revolve around key behaviors and practices. “Behavior Change Communication is at the center of promoting these key behaviors and practices’” he said.
 
Mr. Mwarogo emphasized that to ensure effectiveness of BCC programs implementers must follow a clearly defined step by step process. He invited participants to the 5thAnnual Excellence award on the December 6, to witness the recognition of some of the outstanding BCC initiatives implemented in Africa. 
 
AfriComNet will also host a satellite session on Thursday December 8, where winners of the 2011 Award will make presentations about their initiatives.
 
The 16th ICASA Conference is being held from 4-8 December 2011 under the theme: "Own, Scale-Up and Sustain" in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
